Brocade is a particularly high-quality fabric which is made using a special Jacquard weaving technique. The word “brocade” derives from the Italian “brocare” = embroidery, embroider. Brocade textiles are very dense, fine fabrics made of delicate threads which obtain an elegant, shiny, sophisticated and embroidery-like surface through the integration of silk threads, metal threads or luxury yarns or similar reflective materials in conjunction with the special weaving process. At the domestic level brocade fabrics are often used for ornamental textiles, such as e.g. decorative table runners or wall coverings. Typical for brocades are the lavish floral or bouquet patterns or romantic depictions. Our brocade is all made in Switzerland.
